Mototsugu Eiraku

Mototsugu Eiraku is a professor at Institute for Frontier Life and Medical Sciences, Kyoto University and a principal investigator at the Kyoto University Institute for the Advanced Study of Human Biology (WPI-ASHBi). His lab has developed means to self-organize the brain and retinal tissue (neural organoids) in a cultured dish from mouse and human pluripotent stem cells (ES/iPS cells). Now, he focuses to develop a novel methodology to make a more complex and mature organs from stem cells in vitro, and clarify the underlying mechanisms that give rise to species specificity in organ development.
