Arnold Kriegstein
Dr. Kriegstein is a physician-scientist with an active laboratory research program that focuses on cortical development as well as the application of neural stem cell approaches to nervous system injury and disease. He is also the director of the Eli and Edythe Broad Center of Regeneration Medicine and Stem Cell Research at UCSF and has been a research mentor for over 35 medical students, graduate students, and post-doctoral scholars over a period of 25 years. In addition, Dr. Kriegstein has served and continues to serve as mentor to junior faculty in the Stem Cell and Neuroscience Programs at UCSF, and, in addition to serving on numerous thesis committees and the MSTP Council, he advises medical students, residents, and clinical fellows on next steps in pursuing career paths in academic medicine.
